This Privacy Policy applies to our website (topscoreapp.ai), web application (app.topscoreapp.ai), and the TopScore AI mobile application on the Google Play Store and iOS App Store. It describes how we collect, use, store, and safeguard your personal information when you use our services.
Student Privacy Pledge: We believe education should be safe and distraction-free. We do not sell student personal data to third parties, and we do not serve third-party behavioral advertisements.

We only collect information necessary to deliver educational services, track academic progress, and personalize revision recommendations:
- Account Information: Name, email address, phone number (optional), curriculum selection (KCSE, CBC, or Cambridge IGCSE), and grade/form level.
- Educational & Revision Data: Past paper practice history, quiz battle results, AI tutor chat interactions, uploaded revision PDFs, bookmarked revision topics, and study streak statistics.
- Technical & Device Data: Device model, operating system version, unique device identifiers, IP address, and app usage logs used strictly to ensure app reliability and optimize performance.
- Payment Data: Payments processed via mobile money (M-Pesa, Airtel Money) or bank cards are handled securely by PCI-DSS compliant third-party payment gateways. We never store your full payment card numbers or mobile PINs.
2. How We Use Your Information
We use the collected information exclusively for the following academic and platform purposes:
- To provide real-time, step-by-step AI tutoring and worked solutions inside revision papers.
- To calculate leaderboard rankings, XP points, daily streaks, and topic mastery metrics.
- To personalize past paper practice recommendations based on student performance in weak topics.

3. Third-Party Service Providers
We work with trusted industry-standard infrastructure providers to deliver our educational services:
- Cloud Hosting & Authentication: Google Cloud Platform and Firebase (data storage, user authentication, and secure database hosting).
- AI Model Inference: Secure AI processing partners (such as Google Gemini / OpenAI) used to interpret revision queries and generate academic explanations. User queries sent to AI models are processed securely and are not used to train public foundation models without consent.
- Payment Processors: Licensed payment gateways compliant with financial security regulations for processing subscription fees.
4. Data Retention and Account Deletion
We retain student educational data for as long as your account remains active to provide continuous revision history. You have the right to request deletion of your account and all associated personal data at any time.
How to Delete Your Account and Data: You can initiate account deletion directly from the Profile & Settings screen in the TopScore AI app, or by emailing our data protection officer at admin@topscoreapp.ai with the subject line "Account Deletion Request". Upon confirmation, all personal identifying records, quiz logs, and uploaded files will be permanently purged within 30 days.
5. Children’s Privacy (Minors & Students)
TopScore AI provides educational content for primary and secondary school learners. We comply with applicable international student data protection regulations, including the principles of the Children's Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA) and local Kenyan data protection regulations. We encourage parents and guardians to monitor their children's online revision activities.
